Who are we? We are a small business that started off from helping family and friends convert old family video tapes to DVD’s. Now we are moving the service online so you can enjoy the same family-friendly quality service at an affordable price. We are based in Phoenix, Arizona - the Valley of the Sun.. How does your service work? First, place your order online on our “Start Order” page. When you have completed the payment, print out your receipt, and send it along with your tapes to our shipping address. We'll send the DVDs back to your home along with your tapes as soon as we are done converting. Why should we choose your service? We are honest, family-oriented business. Therefore, we care a great deal about our customers and quality of our service. We don't make any false claims or hide any information to lure customers. We have the most comprehensive disclosure in our service contract. In fact, we would rather have fewer customers, than unhappy customers! We encourage you to do some research on other tape-to-DVD conversion business before you place any orders. Try Googling "(insert company name here) customer complaint bad service", and you'll see what we mean. We try our best never to get on that list. How does the "Track Order" feature work? Once you place your order, you can use your order data to track the progress of the service anytime online. You can find out when your tapes are received, when we have begun conversion, and when the DVDs and tapes are shipped back (with USPS tracking number). If you have problems, contact us via the "contact form" link, enter your transaction ID, and we will enter your messages in the order history. From there, you track how your problem is being addressed. Can I pay without a Paypal account? Yes. On the check out screen, click Continue under "Don't have a Paypal account" as shown below.  What tape formats do you accept? We process NTSC tapes only. We accept the following tape formats: VHS, 8mm, super8, digital 8, and miniDV. Can I view the DVDs on my DVD player? We store the videos on DVD-R. Nearly all DVD players can view these formats. We have not heard from any customers unable to view the converted DVDs. If my tape is damaged, can you still convert it? No. Your tape must be in a viewable state when we receive it. Otherwise, we'll return your tape as-is. We'll refund the service charge if your tape cannot be converted to DVD. Isn’t converting tapes to DVDs easy enough to do by myself? Absolutely. What we are doing is not high-tech. Anyone can do it if they want to spend the time, just like mowing your lawn. However, we have found that many people who are more than capable of doing it simply do not have the time or energy to do so. If you are one of these people, then Summer DVD may be able to rescue you. The chore is done for you with just a click of the mouse! How do I choose tape length when I place an order? Find out the length of the tape in hours, and round up to the nearest even number. Every 2 hours worth of tape will be converted into a single DVD. For example, if you have a 3-hour long tape, you need to choose 4-hr. tape when place order; If you need convert 4.5 hour tapes, you will choose 6-hr (need 3 DVDs for conversion), so on so forth. What happens I placed an order for 2-hour tape, but the tape I send in is 3-hours? Please double check your tape lenth, and help us to make our service fast with quality. If we find out your tape is 3-hour long and you placed 2-hour tape order, we’ll attempt to contact you via EMAIL. If we do not hear back from you in one week, we will assume you only want to convert the first 2-hour video as you ordered. If you respond within one week, and wish to convert for the additional hour, we will convert the whole tape for you once we have received the additional payment. Please try your best not to make this happen to avoid any service delays. In any event, you will not be charged for any service you didn't order. What if I have need to convert more than 10 tapes? Please create a separate order if you have more than 10 tapes. Can you store more than 2-hours of video onto one DVD? Unfortunately, we cannot do this. We have found that the quality of video is greatly reduced if more than 2 hours of video is stored on a single DVD. Will the conversion improve the original video quality? No. The quality of video on the converted DVD will be the same as the quality of the original tape. However, the video on the converted DVD will not deteriorate for hundreds of more years! Why don't you provide a customer support number? Let me be honest: to save cost. We are a small, family-run business, to hire additional employees to handle a phone line will increase the operation cost significantly. This type of cost saving allows us to offer our service at this affordable price. We believe our "Track Order" and customer contact form provides the most effective way of supporting our customers and keeping them informed about their order status. Why do you choose Paypal to handle payment? For the safety of your financial records, we don’t keep any credit card information at all. We would rather use a trustworthy name to handle your financial data. What is your privacy policy? We will never release any data to any third party, period. Furthermore, we will never use your contact information to solicit any service that you don’t order from us. Can you convert copyright protected material? Generally speaking, no. The reason is two-fold: (1) we do not want to get into any copyright-related legal trouble, and (2) some copyright protected video tapes have built-in macrovision anti-copying features. If you attempt to copy these types of videos, the output will have such bad video quality it may be un-viewable. Again, to ensure the quality, we would rather not have unhappy customers because of the poor video quality. Do you convert adult content videos? Simple answer: NO. As we stated, we are a family oriented business. We may refuse the service and return the tapes as-is if we find adult content videos, and you may be charged for a handling fee.
